See Puak สีเผือก
Name meaning: Albino
Arrival date: April 2011
Arrival age: 50
Rescue location: Surin
History: See Puak was captured from the wild at around 10 years old and then used in the logging and trekking industries. Before coming to WFFT, she spent 23 years with the same owner and mainly worked at trekking camps where she would perform tricks for tourists. Her love of food meant she was easy to train, so her owner also put her to work in the film industry. She featured in several movies during her working life.
Characteristics: See Puak is the matriarch of the Newlands herd. She is sprightly, food oriented and welcoming of human attention. She likes to follow staff and volunteers as they pass by her enclosure, and she usually swims in her lake in the afternoon.
See Puak is a short elephant with a large head compared to her body size. She has white tail hairs and numerous scars on her body. During her time in the film industry, See Puak was trained to pose with her ears pushed forward, and she still often stands like that now, even when she is relaxed.
